Propane

Propane,with the chemical formula C3H8, is a colorless and odorless gas at room temperature, slightly soluble in water. It has pure chemical inertness, is easy to liquefy, has a low ignition point, does not emit black smoke when burning, and has no smoke, dust, or odor. It also has a high calorific value and theoretical combustion efficiency. As a clean fuel, propane can replace coal and diesel, reducing environmental pollution.

Chemical Industry

Propane is one of the raw materials for producing various high-value-added products. For example, propane dehydrogenation to propylene, oxidation to acrolein, oxidation to propanol, etc. In addition, propane is also used to produce various industrial chemicals, such as allyl chloride, acrylonitrile, and caprolactam.

Propane Packaging and Storage

High-pressure Liquefied Propane is commonly packaged in steel cylinders and tank trucks. Steel cylinders need to comply with the GB 5842-2006 Liquefied Petroleum Gas Cylinders standard.

Use pressure storage tanks (with a volume usually of 50-5000 m³), equipped with anti-leakage and anti-static devices.

Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse, away from fire sources and heat sources, and the warehouse temperature should not exceed 30°C.

The storage tank needs to be regularly inspected for pressure and tightness, and equipped with a combustible gas alarm device. At the same time, the warehouse area needs to have perfect fire-fighting facilities, and the staff needs to be familiar with the emergency disposal procedures.

Butane

Butane, with the chemical formula C4H10, is a colorless flammable gas at room temperature, slightly soluble in water, easily soluble in organic solvents, and has a slight petroleum odor. It has relatively stable chemical properties, a low ignition point, a relatively clean flame when burning, and can release a high calorific value. It is an important fuel and chemical raw material.

Butane Application Fields

Chemical Industry

Butane is an important chemical raw material. Through catalytic cracking, it can produce basic olefins such as ethylene and propylene, which are key raw materials for synthesizing many chemical products such as plastics (such as polyethylene and polypropylene), rubber, and chemical fibers; it can also undergo alkylation reactions with isobutylene and others to generate high-octane gasoline components (such as isooctane) to improve gasoline quality and enhance gasoline antiknock performance.

Pharmaceutical Industry

Butane is widely used as a solvent in the pharmaceutical process, mostly for oral and external drugs. In addition, butane can also be used in the manufacture of drug raw materials, sterilization and disinfection, medical equipment cleaning, and other aspects.

Fuel Field

Butane is one of the main components of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). After being mixed with propane, it is widely used for household cooking and hot water supply; industrially, it can be used as fuel for kilns, heating furnaces, etc., for processes such as metal processing and ceramic firing to ensure the heat energy supply during the production process; it can also be used as vehicle fuel, that is, LPG vehicle fuel, to help diversify energy sources in the transportation field.
